Intuit’s agents work for Intuit.
Since July 2025, QuickBooks Online has shipped a team of AI agents. They are capable and they are getting better. They also act on their own authority, and Intuit’s documentation says you cannot turn them off one at a time. This page lays out where the two products actually differ, and cites Intuit for every claim we make about Intuit.
Different question, not a better answer.
Intuit’s agents answer “can AI do this work?” The answer is increasingly yes. Zeno answers a question that arrives immediately afterwards and that nobody else is answering: who decided it was allowed to, and what happens when it was wrong?

Nobody signs an engagement letter on behalf of an agent.
When an AI miscodes a client’s books, the platform that shipped the agent is not the party who signed the engagement letter. You are. Every control in Zeno exists to keep authority where the accountability already sits.
- 01Scope the access
The AI sees the authorized organization, company, and tools. It does not get every book and action by default.
- 02Prepare before posting
Names and accounts resolved, confirmed rules applied, existing transactions checked, exceptions separated from ready work.
- 03Approve the exact entries
A person reviews source, coding, warnings and exclusions. Approval is pinned to that batch. If the batch drifts, apply refuses.
- 04Keep a way back
Every result keeps its source, reviewer, QuickBooks identity, explanation, and a supported reversal path.
Common questions.
Does Zeno replace QuickBooks’ built-in AI agents?
It does not have to. Intuit’s agents work on Intuit’s side of the ledger. Zeno governs what your own AI assistant is allowed to do, teaches it how a particular client books, and requires human approval before anything posts. Firms commonly leave Intuit’s features alone and use Zeno for the work they are personally accountable for.
Can I turn Intuit’s AI agents off?
Intuit’s own support documentation states that there is currently no way to turn off AI features individually. That is a large part of why firms want a governance layer they control.
Which AI does Zeno use?
The one you already use. Zeno supplies context, rules, knowledge, playbooks and memory to a supported assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT. We do not sell you another model, and we do not train a provider’s model on your books.
Is this only relevant to accounting firms?
No. A single business running its own QuickBooks Online company gets the same approval gate, audit trail and reversal path for $79 a month. The firm edition adds client management and cross-client memory.
