Questions
Claude and Zeno.
Can Claude change my books on its own?
No. Claude prepares a plan; a person approves it in Zeno; only then does Zeno post it. A connection set to view and answer only cannot prepare or post anything. A few tools act directly, such as sending an invoice the person already approved or changing a company setting, and each of those is journalled and Claude asks first.
Which Claude apps work?
One custom connector on your Claude account covers claude.ai in the browser, Claude Desktop on macOS and Windows, and the mobile apps. Claude Code connects with one terminal command. Any other client that speaks the Model Context Protocol over streamable HTTP with OAuth works the same way.
Does the connector work for QuickBooks Desktop?
QuickBooks Desktop uses a separate setup. Install Zeno on your Windows PC to have Claude prepare entries, find transactions and answer questions about your Desktop books. The file never leaves the PC; only the results Claude asks for are sent to Anthropic under your Claude account’s terms. It has its own setup guide.
Can the owner use Claude without being able to change anything?
Yes. An administrator invites them as a viewer to the companies they may see. They can ask anything and see any record, and leave a question for the bookkeeping team from the same chat. Staff can also set their own connection to view and answer only for a session that should not prepare work.
How is this different from Intuit’s own MCP server?
Intuit’s open-source server gives Claude the ledger objects, with create, update and delete on by default. Zeno gives Claude the bookkeeping job around them: the bank feed it can work, the receipt inbox, the company’s rules, a plan a person approves, and a record of what posted. The comparison page goes through the differences with sources.
What does Anthropic see?
The results of the tools Claude calls in your conversation, under the terms and settings of your Claude account. Zeno does not train models on your data. QuickBooks tokens never reach Claude; Zeno holds them.
