# Set up the firm workspace

> Create the workspace, connect the AI client you use, and add the first QuickBooks Online company.

The **Get started** page stays in the sidebar until an AI client and a
QuickBooks Online company are connected. Set up the AI client first; Zeno will
not start the Intuit connection before something is ready to work with the
imported books.

## Before you start

You need an email address for the workspace, access to the AI client you plan
to use, and permission to authorize the QuickBooks Online company in Intuit.
If another person controls one of those accounts, they can complete its consent
screen in their own browser.

## 1. Create the workspace

[Start a firm workspace](https://app.zenofirm.com/signup?plan=firms) and name
the firm. Zeno accepts sign-in through Google, Microsoft, or Intuit. The email
address used for the owner becomes the first address allowed into the firm.

## 2. Connect your AI client

On **Get started**, choose Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or VS
Code. The console supplies the install link or command. Your client opens a
browser consent screen; approve it while signed in to the Zeno console.

When the connection finishes, the page names the client and opens the
QuickBooks step. If the approval returns to a different tab, come back to the
Zeno tab. It checks for the new connection automatically.

See [Connecting an AI client](/docs/cloud/clients) for manual configuration and
client-specific troubleshooting.

## 3. Connect QuickBooks Online

Choose **Connect to QuickBooks**, sign in to Intuit, and select the company.
Intuit returns you to **Clients**, where the first sync reports its progress.
You can leave the page while it runs.

When the sync finishes, open **First look** beside the company. It points out
items worth checking and drafts client knowledge from what Zeno found. Review
each draft before confirming it; a draft does not guide later work until a
person confirms it.

## Add the people who need access

An owner invites colleagues under **Settings → Team**. Give operators approval
rights, use members for bookkeeping without approval, and use cardholder for a
person who should see only their own company-card claims. Access can also be
limited to named client companies. See [People and roles](/docs/cloud/team).

Your first operational queue depends on the work already waiting:

* Documents that arrived by email or upload start in the [firm inbox](/docs/cloud/documents).
* Bank or card activity starts in [the queue](/docs/cloud/bank-feeds).
* Existing cleanup or a prepared batch starts in [Plans](/docs/cloud/governed-work).
